A veteran of biomedical research, Rafael holds a Ph.D. from Yale and a B.A. from Dartmouth, and conducted postdoctoral work at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, where he co-invented the j5 DNA assembly tool. He’s also a co-founder of the Alliance for AI in Healthcare, championing responsible AI in medicine.
